Change4Life is the Public Health for England flagship programme for preventing childhood obesity. Obesity is a major risk factor in many life-threatening and long-term conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, strokes and cancer. Change4Life aims to improve those health behaviours, such as poor diet and lack of physical activity which can lead to obesity, particularly in children.

There is a new app that you can download onto your phone which will allow you to assess what is in the food you buy for your children (and yourselves!):

Kids are eating nearly three times more sugar than they should. Use the app to see how much sugar is in your food and drinks.

Our kids might seem fine on the outside but eating too much saturated fat can lead to the build-up of harmful fat on the inside. Use the app to find out what’s in their food.

Over half our kids are eating more salt than they should. To see how much salt is in your food and to make sure your children aren’t eating too much, use the app.

Find a drink and guess how many grams of sugar are in it. To find out the correct answer and to make sure your children aren’t having too much, use the app.

Find a snack and guess how many grams of sugar, saturated fat and salt are in each serving. To find out the correct answer and make sure your children aren’t having too much, use the app.
