Immediate tree preservation order protection for Land at Linford

On the 6th June Milton Keynes Council made a Tree Preservation Order [TPO] which provides provisional protection for a period of six months for all trees on the 14 hectares of land known as Linford Lakes, occupied by the ‘Marle Inn’, on which Barratt Homes Ltd wish to develop up to 250 dwellings and a visitor centre.

Long-term protection will be confirmed after 11th July, once MKC have considered objections or representations. It is likely that the blanket TPO on all trees will be refined to refer to specific trees or groups of trees, following a full site survey by the Landscape Officer.

In effect the TPO, made under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990; requires that no person shall: –

• Cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully destroy; or
• Cause or permit the cutting down, topping, lopping, uprooting, wilful damage or wilful destruction of
• Any tree specified in the TPO except with the written consent of Milton Keynes Council.

Please notify GLPC if you consider the TPO is being disobeyed!
